Generative AI Policy

Based on Commitee on Publication Ethics (COPE), JUTI permits the use of large language models (LLMs) and generative AI tools, such as ChatGPT, as aids in manuscript preparation. These tools may be used for idea generation, text structuring, summarizing, paraphrasing, and language refinement. However, they cannot replace human creativity, critical thinking, and scholarly responsibility. Authors must ensure that all content is accurate, unbiased, and contextually appropriate.

Key Considerations

  • Bias – AI outputs may contain or reinforce social, cultural, or ideological biases.

  • Accuracy – AI tools may produce incorrect, outdated, or fabricated information, including false citations.

  • Context – AI may misinterpret idioms, humor, or metaphors, leading to errors.

  • Data Limitations – Model quality depends on the scope and accuracy of its training data.

Author Requirements

  1. Disclosure – Clearly state in the Methods or Acknowledgments which AI tool was used and for what purpose.

  2. Declaration Statement – If AI tools assisted in manuscript writing, include the following before the References:

During the preparation of this work, the author(s) used [TOOL NAME] for [PURPOSE]. The author(s) reviewed and edited the content as needed and take full responsibility for its accuracy and integrity.

  3. No declaration needed for basic grammar, spelling, or reference-checking tools.

  4. Verification – Check all AI-generated content and citations for accuracy and proper referencing.

  5. Avoid plagiarism – Ensure text is original or properly cited.

  6. Limitations – Acknowledge any limitations of AI use in the manuscript.

  7. Authorship – AI tools or bots cannot be credited as authors.

Editorial and Review Process
Editors and reviewers will assess the appropriateness of AI use and verify the accuracy of AI-generated content.

Note
Undisclosed use of AI tools in published articles may result in corrective action. This policy will be updated as needed in response to developments in AI and scholarly publishing.
